Shiver was right up my alley. The book was beautifully crafted by Maggie Stiefvater. Her style is fresh and flowing. A very enjoyable read. Both SHIVER and LINGER nearly had me in tears. Stiefvater creates such lovable characters. It's nearly impossible not to connect with them. Their pain, joy, excitement, anxiety, nearly every emotion is felt by the reader.
Grace, a down-to-earth teenager making her way through the years of childhood, is bitten at a young age by a pack of very unusual wolves. One in particular stands out to her; if not for Grace's yellow-eyed wolf, she would have died that day. The yellow-eyed wolf spends many hours outside her window, after that, watching over Grace.
Turns out that Grace's wolf has a name. Sam Roth, wolf by winter, boy by summer, has found himself utterly bewitched by Grace. When a grief-crazed citizen takes is pain out on the local wolf pack, Sam finds himself human, cold, naked, and bleeding on Grace's back porch one cold winter night.
What other choice does she have than to help the boy whose eyes are so similar to that of her wolf's. Grace and Sam, already connected, fall quickly for each other. Unfortunately, Sam's imminent change back into wolf form is only one on a list of problems they will have to face together.
I hope you enjoy these books as much as I did! I am impatiently awaiting the third book in the series, FOREVER, due to be released in July of this year.
Happy reading, everyone! Any comments, concerns, thoughts on the books?
